Christmas Stove-top Scents {with free printables}

I started writing this post and it turned into another post of my trip back home!  But now I'm ready to write about Christmas scents.  My mom used to always save our orange peels and put them in a saucepan with cinnamon and simmer them in water.  Oh my.  I make my own every time I have left over orange peels or apple cores.  I feel like you can't have the holidays without the smell of the holidays.  It just doesn't work.

These stove-top scents make great gifts to give to neighbors, co-workers or as a give-away for an event.  I was going to use mason jars but when I was at Hobby Lobby, I found these adorable produce cartons in the paper crafting section.  I was instantly in love.  Could they be more perfect?  What better way to package produce than in a produce carton!  Here is an approximate run down of what everything cost:

Cartons -$7.99 + 50% off = $4 for 9
Plastic Bag-$2.49/25
Oranges-.89/lb=$2.79
Apples- .99/lb= $2.00
Lemons- .79/ea x 3 = $2.37
Rosemary-free (clipped from a friends yard)
Vanilla Bean-$3.98/2 =$7.96
Cranberries - $2.49/bag
Cloves- (bought in bulk so they were about .25)
Cinnamon Sticks- $1/bag x 2= $2

Total=$26.35
Approximately $3 for 9

They aren't too expensive to make.  The price above includes 3 packages of each scent.  These were so fun to make, I can't wait to give them away!  The ingredients for each scent is below.

Christmas: cranberries, rosemary, orange, cinnamon sticks, cloves

I used a white cupcake wrapper to make little packets for the cloves. You can see it next to the orange in the picture below.

Apple Pie: apple, cinnamon, cloves
(I made this scent this afternoon and put a few cranberries in it.  It smelled SO good!)

Sonoma: rosemary, lemon and vanilla bean

Vanilla beans are NOT cheap.  I paid $3.98 for 2 at Winco, which is actually a pretty good price for what it is.  I didn't research how much they were at other places but I thought it was a good deal.

Have fun making these!  Below are the chalkboard tags.  I used red and white bakers twine (my new obsession) to tie them.
